I’ve written a lot of posts about my life with depression. Here’s the list in the order I recommend reading them. Also, some of these have editing issues that I’ll get around to one of these days, I promise.
- Depression: a coming out story
- Depression triggered by loss
- Depression is a liar
- Depression: Taking anti-depressant medication
- Depression: 6 bits of unwanted advice and my (unspoken) responses.
- Depression: Momentary respite can offer welcome relief
- Depression: Beware the stereotype
- Depression: What it is like for me
- Depression: RIP Beautiful John
- Stephen (TWITCH) Boss: An (im)perfect life
Thanks for reading! Now here’s a list of resources for people coping with depression themselves.
- The Depression Project
- World Health Organization
- National Institute of Mental Health
- Mental Health America
If you are experiencing depression, please seek help. I know it’s hard. Shoot it’s hard to pull back the covers. Just do one thing.
- Step outside and breathe fresh air.
- Call a friend.
- Watch a video that makes you smile. Tip: search for “corgi mixes.” You’re welcome.
- Do one tiny task–and I mean TINY. Throw one piece of trash in the can. Delete one unnecessary email. Fold one piece of laundry.
- Spend time with an animal.
- Just do one thing. And then do one tiny thing more. . .
If you are considering harming yourself, please reach out. Call 988. Someone is always available to talk with you.
Above all, know this: you really are not alone. I promise.
